My name is Jim Webb and over 40 years ago I fell in love with photography, especially photographing people.  I have been a commercial photographer since 1979.  A friend and I started out photographing events in the great Pacific Northwest at the turn of the 1980s and eventually branched off into fashion and advertising photography.  I actually photographed my first wedding when I was 18 years old and invented a shot using the bride's bouquet with the bride and groom's wedding rings atop the flowers.  It was an instant hit with the customer and continues to be so today.   I would often create other specialized images, such as the bride and groom kissing inside a wine glass; portraits superimposed in a candle flame; or a special shot set inside crystal ice during a winter wedding.  These were all accomplished in the days before the personal computer had yet to be invented, so all special photography occurred inside the film camera or in the dark room.

Today, my creative expertise is expressed through the marvel of digital photography.  The dark room is now a computer using Photoshop and other advanced digital imaging programs, while the camera has evolved into a sophisticated image processor allowing for unlimited creative possibilities.

Even though we are now in the digital age, I am by profession a classic wedding photographer.  The images are meant to capture your personality, love for each other and the special day as it happens.  The photos are not created as an expression of the photographer's imagination or opinion of what your day should look like, but a true representation of everything the day means to you.

When I was studying photography in college, one of my instructors, Gene Lee, said to me:

"Jim, never forget the camera is just a box that focuses light; the picture is created by the photographer".

Regardless of who you choose for your wedding, I recommend you book your date as early as you can as many dates fill up as early as 12 months in advance.  I photograph all over the world and I am frequently in the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. area, the Pacific Northwest, as well as the Denver area. So, my calendar too tends to fill up quickly.

Thank you for considering Only Weddings Photography and I look forward to answering any questions you might have.
